Entries Still Open for Central Queensland IOM Championship
At the time of posting this story 29 entrants were registered for this event from across the country.  The current National Champion Sean Wallis from Perth WA has grabbed the opportunity to sail at this great venue and continue to hone his skills in preparation for the World championships in Brazil later this year.  That and the suspicion that he just enjoys beating Queenslanders at home!

DF95 South Queensland Championship
The forecast was grim for the inaugural South Queensland DF95 Championships.  After years of effort in building the fleet the weather gods were not going to be kind, sending 95% chance of rain just on that day and not much wind.

Simple Heat Racing System Australian Debut?
On the weekend of October 19th and 20th 2019, the South Australian RC Laser State Titles will be run at Mawson Lakes, but this time they will be run under a new scoring format - Simple Heat Racing System (SHRS).

Yarrawonga Hosts VIC Marblehead State Championship
The staging of the 2019 Victorian Marblehead State Championship differed from previous events, in that they were held inland, some 3 hours’ drive north of Melbourne, in the popular holiday destination that is Yarrawonga, on the VIC /NSW border, in anticipation of the VRYA staging our edition of the ARYA Nationals in 2020, at this location.

The Sheriff Wins Another Austin Lakes Shootout!
Austin Lakes was the venue for the DF95 Western Australian State Championships. The venue is likely to be the site for the 2020 Australian National Championships for the DF classes, so today was an opportunity to have a run through, putting the boats and the lake to the test.

DF65 National Invitation Regatta
Friday 19th April saw the start of this year’s Invitation Regatta at Kogarah Bay, NSW. Competitors from QLD, NSW, SA, Vic and the ACT had entered but with apologies and race committee duties, 13 skippers started the first race.

Albany Set to Turn On the Tap

2019 Bink Frayne Memorial Regatta
This year, Perth Radio Sailing Club relocated the annual Bink Frayne Memorial A Class regatta to Austin Lakes in South Yunderup. Unfortunately, we could not be reasonably confident that our home lake at Jackadder would be covered in weed. This was the fourth running of the event following Bink’s passing.

2019 IOM Susan McAnna Memorial Trophy
On the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of March the first round of the 2019 NSW IOM GP series was run at Kogarah Bay SC. The GP round held at Kogarah Bay annually is dedicated to the memory of Susan McAnna, the much loved and valued Kogarah Bay RYC member and member of the NSWRYA Management Committee, first as Secretary/Treasurer, then as Publicity Officer. Susan is remembered for her considerable contribution to radio yachting in NSW.

Nail Biting Finish to IOM Championship
Going into the final day Sean Wallis held a slim lead of just 6.3 points ahead of Paul Jones, this was narrowed to 3.3 points by lunch as the championship was to be fought out between the pair.

It took until late on day two before an Aussie finally overtook our American guests to top the leader board of the IOM Australian Championship with a new leader, WA's Roger Paul picking up after race eight before Sean Wallis took over after a win in race 9.

2019 AUS Ten Rater Championship Day 1
The day started with frequent squalls and a SSE breeze. The forecast was for 15 - 20 knot Easterly breezes on the coast which was expected to translate to 10 -15 knots at Regatta Lake. Eventually that was exactly what happened but not before some serious attempts at setting a course proved futile.

Dill Claims A Class Title
Brian Dill (NSW) has been crowned 2019 International A Class Australian Champion finishing ahead of Roger Paul (WA) and Warren Norrie (NSW). The Masters Division was won by Denton Roberts (WA).

Dill Holds Lead in A Class AUS Championship
Twenty races were completed on day one of the International A Class Australian Championship at Regatta Waters Lake on the Gold Coast. Wind conditions were as expected, SE around 8-12 knots although significant shifts occurred during the races which saw positions change frequently with some going from looking famous to out the back door if they missed one.

Speedy Mexican Takes Ian Hayden 10R Trophy
On the weekend of the 19th & 20th of January 2019, the Ian Hayden 10R Trophy was held at Kogarah Bay Sailing Club and hosted by Kogarah Bay Radio Yacht Club. This regatta is round one of the NSW 10R GP series and is held annually to celebrate the considerable contribution made by the late Ian Hayden to radio sailing, the NSWRYA and KBRYC.
